Recharging
We had a really nice christmas with our families and our turkey, gravy, and stuffing all turned out delicious. Since then we have pretty much done nothing and it's been great.
This week is all about being lazy and reclusive. We ventured out Sunday night to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus but otherwise have been sleeping in, watching soccer and movies, playing video games, eating, and napping. It's a total luxury to be able to switch off and do nothing. It was a tough Fall and work's going to be very busy again come January so I'm glad to be able to recharge my batteries this week.
Happy merry
Whew, it's been a busy bunch of days. Well, except for Monday when we stayed in and napped and watched old episodes of Beavis and Butthead. But otherwise, super busy. We've also been charged with making the turkey and stuffing for christmas dinner, which will be a first. I'm taking on the stuffing and leaving the turkey to Arun. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday with those you love!
Odds and ends
Things are starting to come together for the holidays. I've made a dent in christmas shopping and have also completed this year's quest for a new parka and warm, waterproof boots just in time for the temperature drop. Also, the new shower curtain arrived:

The next couple of days will be focused on finishing a few odds and ends at work, more christmas shopping, tidying up and baking for our party on Saturday. This year I'll be keeping things relatively simple and baking red velvet cupcakes, Toblerone fudge, and my favourite christmas cookies.
I watched the Charlie Brown christmas special last night. It's one of the few things I'm still sentimental about around the holidays, despite it's overt religiousness. I'll pull out our tree for Saturday, though it's not going to be the same without Starla around to chew on it:

Ongoing
The world's slowest bathroom mini-makeover is still ongoing. But we are making progress—the wall decals are up:

And I've ordered this shower curtain:

Now we've just got to buy and install a towel bar and we'll be set. Hopefully everything will get delivered and installed before our christmas party on the 19th. I'm not worried about the towel bar but the shower curtain is coming from the States via UPS and they tend to take for-freakin'-ever. Fingers crossed!
I'm still completely unprepared for the holidays (aside from being so so ready to have two weeks off work). I haven't bought a single gift yet. Thankfully I don't have a huge list, I'm going to take a couple of extended lunches this week and power through it so I can then turn my focus to baking. The boutiques on Dalhousie are having a special shopping night tomorrow so I just may have to brave the blizzard and make a trip down there for that (and likely pick up some goodies for myself while I'm there).
