I love summer

It's been a great few days of walking around, hanging out, and eating great food.

We had one of those "it really feels like summer" evenings on Thursday with Craig, we had dinner at the chicken & rib cook-off and followed it up with a trip to the Bank St. Dairy Queen. I had Friday off and went to a lunchtime yoga class that was taught by a guy who sounded exactly like the teacher from Beavis and Butthead and spent the entire time trying not to laugh. I got caught in that big downpour on the way to meet Arun, Craig, and Jessica for dinner at Murray Street and learned to never wear my new denim circle skirt when it's raining 'cause that thing took forever to dry out and sitting in a sopping wet skirt in air conditioning isn't fun.

Most of Saturday was spent with my family; I got to see my two-month old nephew, who is adorable. Yesterday we went to the farmer's market at Landsdowne and Nicastro's and picked up all sorts of deliciousness—veggies, bread, cheese, cured meat, and macarons that were to die for.

Work is slowing down nicely for the summer. I'm taking Thursday and Friday off this week so I'll have a five day weekend and I'll probably take most of next week too. Have I mentioned that I love summer?

St. Elsewhere

In the absence of anything super exciting to report (other than the fact that I made bacon chipotle barbecue sauce the other day and it is deee-licious), here are links to some things I've seen around the net recently that I thought were pretty cool:

- the chalk animation video for Firekites' Autumn Story;

- a Flickr set of classic album covers redesigned as Pelican books;

- a demo version of The Last Dance, a new track by The Raveonettes;

- a Twitter feed of the Apollo 11 moon mission as it happened... 40 years later; and

- another stop motion video, this one featuring Post Its.

Final product

The bathroom reno is done! Overall, it wasn't as painful as I imagined it would be. I was able to work from home without much hassle and the construction guys were nice and conscientious and did great work. And I'm really happy with the final product. Check it out:

So far so good

The bathroom reno is going well so far. Yesterday two guys came to rip out the shower stall and tile and drywall:

Today they reinstalled the shower and redid the drywall:

Tomorrow gets interesting—they're going to start on the tile. I'm pretty excited to see how it will look. Photos will be forthcoming.

Not dead yet

In case anyone was worried, I survived the staff retreat but came home with a brutal cold that's kept me out of it since Wednesday. Arun's been sick too but with possible pneumonia. We're both feeling a lot better now, thanks to a steady diet of sleep and vegging out.

The work on our bathroom starts tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be a long (and noisy) week but it'll at least provide some blogging material. Stay tuned for updates and photos.
