You know those girls with perfect poreless-looking skin? Yeah. I’m not one of them. I’ve tried several different primers over the years but wasn’t ever impressed with any of them. I’d given up on them until I was cornered by a friendly, if overzealous, Benefit makeup artist in Chicago, who redid pretty much all my makeup when all I wanted was a sparkly bright pink lip gloss. I can’t really complain though, since I wound up liking (and buying) almost everything she put on me—including, to my surprise this primer. (Good thing makeup is cheaper in the States.)

The POREfessional (get it?!) has a nice velvety feel to it, can be applied under or over makeup, and it actually does what it’s supposed to do: minimize the appearance of pores. Recommended.

Non-hideous cat furniture

I’m terrible with math so it’s no surprise I completely miscalculated when we’ll be getting our kitten. I was thinking it would be late September/early October but no, it’s late August. Oops. I’m going to have to kitten-proof our apartment sooner than I thought. But still: yay! I’ve already started bookmarking reasonably priced non-hideous cat furniture, like this:

I lug a lot of stuff around with me most of the time. My phone, keys, lunch, gym clothes, wallet, camera, a small cosmetics bag, sunglasses and/or an umbrella, three different shades of red lipstick, hand sanitizer, hand cream, a lens cleaning cloth, kleenex, some band-aids, a pen and notebook, mints, a brush, etc. Oh, and sometimes my laptop. (And I wonder why my shoulders hurt.)

Carrying multiple bags is annoying so I just buy giant purses to accommodate everything. Consequently, I could never find anything in my purse and always spent way too much time fishing around for stuff in there.

But now? Now I’ve got a Pouchee. It’s a purse organizer insert and it’s awesome. My purse still weighs a ton but at least I know where everything is.
